SA Law announces appointment of Joint Managing Partner with green ambitions

SA Law have announced the appointment of a new joint managing partner, Tracy Lacey Smith after a tenure of 17 years at the company. She has already introduced a strategy to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, with a vison to drive greener business operations.

St Albans and London based firm SA Law have chosen Lacey-Smith as a new joint managing partner alongside the current managing partner Steve Ryan, who has led the firm for 19 years. The pair will work together to ‘steer the strategic direction of the firm’. Lacey-Smith began her time at SA Law as the head of their Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team, and has been called a ‘major source of the company’s growth’ since joining in 2007.
She will continue to ‘play an integral role in  achieving the firm’s ambitious growth plans and meeting the firm’s strategic objectives’. As part of this strategy, there will be a particular focus on growing the support and services SA Law provides to its client base of local businesses, as well as leading national, and international companies.
Lacey-Smith has been leading on the firm’s commercial business development strategy, working with internal and external stakeholders to drive business opportunities. This has involved establishing cross-departmental client development programmes, technology initiatives, and engaging employees in the next phase of the firm’s development.

She said:

“I am thrilled to continue working collaboratively with Steve and our fellow SA Law Partners, and employees, to drive forward the continued success of the firm and maintain our leading law firm status.

“Working in St Albans for many years, the firm has been a key contributor to the dynamic and vibrant economy of the city. I am really looking forward to refreshing our holistic approach to legal issues, and reaffirming our firm’s commitment to local businesses, as well as building more commercial connections across the UK and internationally.

“We are fortunate to have such a talented team of people across all practice groups and specialisms, and we are keen to maintain SA Law’s culture of being a positive, inspiring, and collaborative place to work. It is a career highlight for me to help lead them into this new era for the firm.”

Recently she has been spearheading the firm’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by introducing greener business operations. The firm is working towards achieving B-Corp accreditation later this year. She has been involved in the digital transformation of the firm, with the introduction of a new relationship management system.

Lacey-Smith will continue to act for clients following her appointment as Joint Managing Partner, remaining Joint Head of the Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team. She acts for organisations facing commercial disputes, enforcing restrictive covenants, shareholder and boardroom disputes, complex contractual matters, professional negligence issues and insurance matters.

Ryan, Managing Partner said:

“I am delighted Tracy is taking on this senior management role and sharing the firm’s leadership responsibilities with me. Our big ambitions for growth and innovation make this an important and exciting new chapter in SA Law’s history, and we are excited to work more closely with St Albans’ tight-knit business community, as well as our national and international clientele.

“I look forward to working with Tracy in shaping and achieving SA Law’s goals, in collaboration with our valued employees.”
