Jeff Lewis elected as new Law Society deputy vice president

The Law Society of England and Wales council has elected Jeff Lewis as its new deputy vice president. Lewis will take office in October 2026, become vice president in 2027 and president of the Law Society in 2028.

As deputy district judge on the Northern Circuit since 2001, Lewis gained significant insight into the operations of the courts and the challenges facing access to justice.

In 2005, he joined Brabners Solicitors as a partner. He also joined several Law Society advisory committees such as the Membership and Communications Committee and the Civil Justice Committee. In addition, he has been a member of the Manchester Civil Courts Users’ Committee. Lewis has represented Manchester on the Law Society council since 2016.

Mark Evans, president of the Law Society of England and Wales, said: “Congratulations to Jeff on his election as deputy vice president of the Law Society. He emerged from a strong pool of candidates, and his experience and commitment to the profession will be invaluable.

“I look forward to working with Jeff to drive progress and help the Law Society navigate the future successfully for our members, the legal community and society. I wish him all the best.”

Lewis said: “I am honoured to be elected deputy vice president of the Law Society at such an important time for the profession.

“I look forward to being a strong voice for solicitors, encouraging young people to enter the profession and build their careers. We need to ensure our justice system continues to serve everyone effectively.”
