The British Family Law Awards 2024: Today’s Family Lawyer is delighted to announce it will be hosting the first iteration of The British Family Law Awards in Bristol next year on Thursday 25th January.
The Harbour Hotel Bristol, venue of The British Family Law Awards 2024
The event – set to be held at the Harbour Hotel Bristol – will recognise excellence across the vibrant family law community that organisers Today’s Media have come to know and love through their work across Today’s Family Lawyer.
Entries to the awards are free and are now open, closing 26th October 2023. Each firm is able to enter up to three of the 15 categories on offer.
Uniquely positioned as the only daily online news resource dedicated to family law practitioners, Today’s Family Lawyer is at the forefront of current affairs and sentiment across the industry. Through its online presence, and weekly newsletter, it delivers editorially independent news, case commentaries, industry insight and regulatory updates to thousands of family lawyers in England and Wales every day.
It was through this lens that the concept of The British Family Law Awards was developed; a wholly independent event bringing the very best of the family law community together to recognise and celebrate excellence and success.
15 categories, all with carefully curated criteria, designed to showcase the incredible work of lawyers who work tirelessly to promote and provide access to justice for so many. Each entry will be scrutinised by the judging panel to establish the shortlist, with the winners announced live on the night at The British Family Law Awards.
David Opie, Managing Director of Today’s Media, publishers of Today’s Family Lawyer, said:
As a business and news publication, Today’s Media and Today’s Family Lawyer has its finger firmly on the pulse of what is happening in the family community. Through our online news site, we provide an independent source of industry insight, regulatory and case law updates and best practice, free from external influence and bias.
We bring these virtues to the fore through our national awards programmes which celebrate this vibrant and important profession, recognising the firms and businesses that contribute to its work and success. And, more importantly, enabling firms to showcase their expertise and credibility to their clients and prospects.
The British Family Law Awards are the embodiment of this ethos; an independent celebration recognising the work of family practitioners up and down the country; from the high street to the city. Each submission is thoroughly reviewed by a panel of expert judges to establish the shortlist and eventual winner.
Join Today’s Media in bringing the family law community together at the fabulous Bristol Harbour House Hotel on 24th January 2024 and enter today.”

Alongside some well-established favourites of awards ceremonies, the categories are also designed to reflect the changing nature of law firms and nuance of legal work. Could being named “Family Law Firm of the Year – Regional” have a positive impact on the perception of your firm locally? In the increasingly competitive grab for talent? Who wouldn’t want to be crowned “Best Place to Work” or “Law Firm Innovator of the Year”?
Shortlisted and winning firms will be provided with bespoke graphics to use on websites and social channels to promote their success internally and externally.
The awards event itself is unconventional, with the ceremony taking place at the start of the evening, followed by extensive networking opportunities, dinner and evening entertainment. No lengthy formalities or speeches, rather an opportunity to get together with colleagues and friends and celebrate the great and the good of the family law community.
What’s more, with Today’s Family Lawyer providing exclusive and extensive coverage of the whole event, including the run up to the night, and post event, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get your name out into the family law community and beyond.
Ultimately The British Family Law Awards are about providing a platform through which firms and individuals can meet with peers, demonstrate their expertise and skills, and join together in celebrating success in this increasingly demanding area of law.
