Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP (FJG) say they are delighted to announce that a solicitor within its family law team, Joel Tyson, has been awarded the Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) accreditation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
This endorsement enables Joel to provide his clients with ‘a more holistic service’; in addition to providing legal counsel, he can now also represent them in higher courts, including the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
Tyson, who is based at the prominent Essex and Suffolk law firm’s Chelmsford office, is now referred to as a Solicitor Advocate. He specialises in all areas of family law including children disputes, divorce, financial matters, nuptial agreements, and domestic abuse, and has been a vital part of the FJG team since August 2019.
Reflecting on the significance of this achievement, Joel said: “Family law can involve a lot of sensitivities and emotions, so it’s comforting for clients to feel supported by someone they know and trust throughout the entire legal process.”
“A further benefit to my clients is that I am now able to undertake more complex and challenging cases and appeals, which removes the need to retain and meet a separate barrister for higher courts.

The training and assessments required for the Higher Rights of Audience accreditation, included six days of preparation along with many hours of independent study and vocational advocacy experience.
