New era for industry leading “Today’s” publications

The industry leading “Today’s” publications enter a new era as owners Chris Harris and Karen Babington step away from the business.

Covering three main areas of private client law, conveyancing, wills and probate and family, the three publications have a significant reach and influence in their respective sectors.

Managing Director David Opie will take the helm at Today’s Conveyancer, Today’s Wills and Probate and Today’s Family Lawyer.

“I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to be the custodian of these publications and look forward to carrying on the important work Karen and Chris have done to champion all those involved in the sectors we serve.

“We have a fantastic team who are passionate about what we do which stands us in good stead as we look ahead to the future.”

As the publications have grown, so too has their body of work which now includes industry leading events like Women in Wills, The British Wills and Probate Awards, now in their 4th year, and the recent British Conveyancing Awards; as well as a marketing consultancy focused specifically on the legal sector, known to many as Solve Legal Marketing, and a growing training arm.

Collectively the business will become known as Today’s Media going forward.

Reflecting on the last 11 years Chris Harris said:

“When I set up Today’s Conveyancer in 2010 the internet and blogging were very different to where they are now and one of the first emails I received was from a stranger complaining about my spelling and grammar.  Recently I haven’t written much for the sites and as time has passed my involvement has diminished.  Now seems the right time to allow David, who has been running the publications for sometime, to have his opportunity to shine. He really deserves this as he is so well respected and well known in our sectors.”

Karen Babington adds:

“I am extremely proud of what we have achieved through our publications, especially the introduction of two nationally recognised awards programmes.  Today’s Media is in the very capable hands of David Opie and his team who will continue to grow and develop it.

“I couldn’t be happier that it is David and his team that who have chosen to take the baton forward.”

Commenting on the future of Today’s Media, Chris Harris said:

“I have really enjoyed setting up and taking Today’s Media to where it is today.  It has been so much fun building something from scratch and working with Karen to grow it to become the leading publications for private client practitioners. I am sure David will build on these strengths and take Today’s Media to new heights. I wish him all the best and ask him to look after my child carefully.”
