Victims’ Commissioner’s Office announces temporary chief

Madeleine Storry has become interim Chief Executive Office of the Office of the Victims’ Commissioner, following the departure of Katie Kempen (CEO 2021-2023).

Madeleine was recently the OVC’s Head of Policy and Research, responsible for leading, overseeing and developing the policy and research functions.

Decisions around the recruitment of permanent Chief Executive will be made in due course and in agreement with the Ministry of Justice, the OVC’s sponsoring department. Details will be posted on the Victims’ Commissioner’s website as they become available.

The role of Victims’ Commissioner is currently subject to an open recruitment process. The Office of the Victims’ Commissioner (OVC) will continue to engage with officials and stakeholders with a view to welcoming and briefing a new incoming Victims’ Commissioner.

The OVC is committed to ensuring the interests of victims and witnesses continue to be represented at the highest levels during this interim period. The team will continue to maintain and strengthen existing relationships whilst also looking to build the foundations for future engagement under a new Victims’ Commissioner.

More on this, on 5th April, it was announced that Katie Kempen would step down as Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Victims’ Commissioner at the end of June 2023.

Decisions around the recruitment of a role will be made shortly and in agreement with the Ministry of Justice, the OVC’s sponsor department. Details will also be posted on the Victims’ Commissioner’s website as they become available.
