Stowe Family Law announces latest acquisition

Stowe Family Law has announced the acquisition of the south east firm Watson Thomas Solicitors.

According to the firm, divorce inquiries have increased as a result of the pandemic and the rising cost of living, and this newest move will “increase its ability to meet client demand”.

With over 120 specialised family lawyers, Stowe was acquired by a private equity company in Livingbridge in 2017. Since then, it has expanded into a network of 64 offices throughout England and Wales.

Ken Fowlie, chairman at Stowe, said:

“This acquisition is another positive step in Stowe’s journey, as we continue to pursue our mission to be the UK’s leading family law practice. We are always looking for new ways to grow the firm and support our clients.”

Watson Thomas Solicitors is a strong addition to the Stowe Family Law breadth of offering, accelerating our growth strategy and expanding our presence in the Surrey, Hampshire and London markets.”

The company had 23 workers as of the most recent Watson Thomas accounts, which covered the fiscal year that concluded on April 30, 2022. Cash in the bank had been cut in half to £72,000, and the company now had a net liability of about £7,000, owed creditors £275,000, and still owed clients £196,000 for continuing work.
