Irwin Mitchell bolsters family law offering with the appointment of two new partners in London

Irwin Mitchell has announced the appointment of two new partners to its London family law team.

Claire Filer and Fran Hipperson both join from BP Collins LLP where they were family law partners, bringing with them a wealth of experience in a range of specialist family matters. These appointments will take Irwin Mitchell’s Family Law practice to 12 partners and over 50 fee earning lawyers – remaining the largest family law team in the country.

Claire has extensive experience in advising clients across a broad range of family law issues including divorce, the dissolution of civil partnerships and child-centred disputes, as well as relocation overseas. She also specialises in cases involving complex business assets and trusts.

Fran, who has a background at city law firms acting on behalf of high-net worth individuals, advises on difficult issues involved in complex financial and children disputes following the breakdown of a relationship. Fran’s experience in complex jurisdictional, trust, business and tax issues is extensive, as is her work on private children matters.

The Irwin Mitchell family law team has also recently appointed specialist therapists and launched a Mediation Support Service earlier this year to help clients with the wider elements of mediation beyond the legal aspects.

Commenting on her new role, Claire Filer said:

“The team at Irwin Mitchell has a strong reputation in the family law space, but is also well-regarded in so many other areas of law and is building additional services to help clients outside of the legal sphere. I’m looking forward to achieving great outcomes for my clients – and with the firm having such a broad range of specialisms, clients will also be able to come to us for a range of support including financial planning, wills and property.”

Fran Hipperson said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining the family law team at Irwin Mitchell at such an exciting time of growth. The firm has a strong client-centric reputation, and a clear focus on delivering the best results for each client. I’m looking forward to meeting the wider team and achieving great results together.”

Ros Bever, National Head of Irwin Mitchell’s Family Law team, said:

“While we have significant expertise across the country, London is clearly a thriving legal and financial focus globally and it’s important that we have the capability and capacity to help our clients in the capital with their family law issues.

I’m delighted to welcome Claire and Fran to Irwin Mitchell, both of whom bring extensive experience and expertise. Our specialist team continues to go from strength to strength and we’re really focusing on how to achieve the best outcomes for our clients including supporting them with aspects of life outside the traditional legal elements of a case such as financial planning, therapy and the softer skills associated with mediation. I know that both Claire and Fran share our attitudes and values and they’ll both be an asset to our team and I look forward to working with them.”

Irwin Mitchell has now recruited 17 new Partners this financial year across teams including commercial, public law and human rights, will disputes, real estate and employment law.
