Global Microsoft outage follows CHAPS issues

Major news outlets are reporting an outage with Microsoft is affecting banks, trains, airlines, media and major infrastructure. Microsoft itself has said it is taking action to mitigate service issues, which it says started early Friday morning.

The outage, which is not though to be malicious, is being reported to be related to two interconnected issues with Microsofts cloud services platform, Azure, and a third party anti-virus Crowdstrike security software update.

The news comes a day after the CHAPS banking service was affected by a ‘global issue‘ relating to third party payment company Swift. The service was back up and running within a couple of hours.
