Firms share news of growth and acquisitions

National firm Pepperells Solicitors has strengthened its north east presence with its second acquisition in two months, following its acquisition of Elmhirst Parker LLP in October.

The deal with Seaham-based Michael Cook Law Firm Limited reflects the company’s accelerated growth strategy, which focuses on expanding its presence across key UK regions and investing in experienced legal teams.

“This acquisition reflects our commitment to building a truly national legal platform supported by strong local expertise and exceptional client service,” said Vicky Kulleseid, chief operating officer.

“The addition of Michael Cook Law Firm strengthens our presence in the north east and allows us to serve more communities with the same reliable and accessible legal support we are known for.”

Stephen Orridge, executive director and compliance officer, added:

“This move supports our long-term strategy of expanding our footprint in the regions where demand for our services continues to grow.

“Bringing established teams into the Pepperells family allows us to deliver the same high standards of client care across a wider geographical area, while ensuring our compliance culture remains consistent throughout the firm.”

Matthew WortAlso sharing growth news is social purpose law firm Anthony Collins, which has announced a year of “significant growth” with a 6% increase in annual turnover taking 2024-25 revenues to £30.2 million and net profit of £7.8 million.

The firm says the key to its success is continuous investment in recruitment and workforce development initiatives. The firm has recently appointed four new partners: Emma Riley and Stuart Evans have been promoted to partner in the projects team, with Kate Davies and Digby Morgan joining the social housing team.

“Our growth this year is largely down to the skills, drive and determination of our people,” said senior partner Matt Wort (pictured right).

“Every one of our employees embodies the firm’s passion for supporting clients and leading from the front when it comes to having a positive impact on individuals and communities across the country.

“To support us on our growth journey and ensure we stay focused on delivering social impact, our new five-year strategy includes a pledge to double our social impact by 2030. We will be monitoring our progress against this goal – supporting our clients and continuing to invest in our people – and we are sure that our strong financial performance will continue.”
